Motorbike restoration

A gent from nearby Chinnor phoned me, and inquired whether I would undertake the restoration of an old motorbike, and so I paid him a visit. In his garage was an AJS Model 16 of 1959 manufacture, needing a total restoration job. I found the road tax disc still in its holder, slightly faded, it had expired in January 1964!  I took it home and completely restored it for him, the only component that wasn’t totally rebuilt was the gearbox. The photos were taken just after it had passed its MOT test. The customer rode it home and the old bike ran perfectly, a very rewarding job indeed.

Ready to go, all re chromed & painted. The wheels have stainless spokes now.
